Prandelli confuses Juve

<TD vAlign=top>Cesare Prandelli has asked Fiorentina to work over-time in Turin this evening to keep old rivals Juventus on their toes.

>Giampaolo Pazzini was set to start, but pulled up with an injury during training and has been ruled out for the next 10 days, so Luis Jimenez appears to have the upper hand over Valeri Bojinov. Youth team wide midfielder Danilo D’Ambrosio has received his first call-up to the squad.

The Tuscans haven’t beaten Juve in Turin for 18 years, since Roberto Baggio sealed a 2-1 victory on May 15, 1988. It’s also the fourth meeting they’ve had this season, as the Bianconeri won 2-1 at the Stadio Franchi in Serie A and then qualified past them in the Coppa Italia with a 2-2 draw in Florence and crunching 4-1 victory at the Delle Alpi.

“The team is focused and very charged up for this game,” continued Prandelli. “From a psychological point of view, this is the easiest match to prepare for a Coach, as everyone is already motivated.”

Not even transfer talk, in this case with rumours suggesting Prandelli is the prime target to replace Roberto Mancini at Inter, can knock him off his stride.

“I haven’t even read the papers, even if someone has told me about these stories. I don’t want to discuss them, as they simply don’t matter to me. There is too much talk in football now and these allegations can only serve to cause problems within a relaxed and concentrated side.”
