Barone all set for ToroThursday 3 August, 2006Palermo have revealed that they are on the verge of selling Simone Barone to newly promoted Torino.
The World Cup winner wants a fresh challenge and Toro are understood to have met with the Rosanero’s asking price of around £3m.
“I don’t see any problems ahead with regard to Barone’s move to Torino,” stated Palermo sporting director Rino Foschi. “An agreement with the Granata has practically been found.”
The former Parma and Chievo player had been linked with moves to Inter and Juventus, but now looks set to join Turin’s less successful club.
Barone is a combative central midfielder who made two substitute appearances for Italy at the World Cup Finals.
Meanwhile, in other transfer news, Siena have a new attacker in the shape of youngster Daniele Corvia.
The latter has joined the Tuscan minnows on Thursday in a co-ownership deal from Serie A giants Roma.
