<><FONT face=Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular size=2>Luca Toni has revealed he wants to leave Fiorentina so that he can complete his dream of fighting for the Scudetto and the Champions League.
The Azzurri striker held a media conference at the Artemio Franchi Stadium on Thursday, along with his agent Tullio Tinti, where he explained why he’s at war with his current club.
“I need to meet President Andrea Della Valle and make clear what my needs are,” said the 30-year-old.
“The past season has been a wonderful one for me, probably my best ever. I won the Golden Boot and the World Cup, but now has come the time for me to choose.
”I have received several offers from important teams, who compete for their championship titles, who play in the Champions League, and I’m not only referring to Inter.
“There is also interest from Spain and England,” he noted.
“Considering my age, I think I need to consider the options carefully,” added the former Palermo player who only joined the Tuscan club last summer.
“I want to win something, I am not 20-years-old anymore and I would l like to fully exploit the last years I have before I end my career,” he continued.
“Last season Fiorentina won a place in the Champions League, but unfortunately we were handed a very severe verdict [in the Calciopoli probe].
“There will be no Champions League football and we will start Serie A with a 19-point deduction, this makes the situation very difficult.
“I hope Della Valle will agree to meet me, so we can discuss a solution that is suitable for both parties, but until now he has refused to speak to me,” added last year’s Serie A top scorer.
“I know I signed a contract and if the club officials refuse to sit down and speak with me, I will acknowledge that fact, but the relationship with the club would be forever jeopardised.
”I’m not going to run away, as long as I feel that the team, the Coach and the fans trust me I will give my best for the outfit I wear.
“However, I don’t think it’s right for the President to act the way he is right now.”
